Summa, Summa, Summatime

Now that Memorial Day has officially kicked off the Summer, it's time to clean out our closets of those few remaining Winter/Spring items that are taking up much needed closet space. And if you know what the sizes of New York City closets are like, then we don't need to argue the fact that space is a coveted/required element of any girl who lives here. Personally, we'd rather have a small room with a large closet. Just like we'd rather spend our paychecks on Louboutins and eat peanut butter for a week. Priorities, people.

Let's dish on key Summer pieces, ya know, besides the basic cut-off jean shorts and white V-neck t-shirts that we love so much and would wear on any given day. Bold prints, patterns, and unique cuts are extremely acceptable for this kind of weather, so why not try them? Here are some of our favorite statement Summer pieces.

J.Crew bauble necklace

Current/Elliot printed jeans for Diane Von Furstenberg

Nicholas Kirkwood sandals

TopShop metallic romper

Christian Louboutin 'Super Dombasel 160mm Suede" Wedges

What are your favorite statement Summer pieces?

Memorial Day Weekend Wear

Alas, one of the greatest weekends hath come to us weekenders! So what should we bring with us, besides the mandatory 6-pack and wine spritzers and don't forget the hot dogs, burgers, etc? We bring style - that's what! Last year a plethora of us made it to a grand island known as Fire Island and had QUITE the time! This year, we are making our way down to the ultimate shitshow, which that is of the Shore. Decisions, decisions....zebra print or sequins to parade around Karma in? We just can't decide! Alright, so we made some cuts and this is what we were left with. This weekend is all about color and flash - take a peek at some key pieces.

Colorful jeans are the best, because they are a staple piece in any wardrobe and you can pair these with just about any top - think neutrals or go all out and do a contrasting color! Just remember, keep it simple.

One can never go wrong with a classic (and vintage) Louis Vuitton and Ray-Ban Aviators. Ever.

Keep jewelry somewhat consistent, but a dash of neon is never a bad thing either. It keeps the outfit interesting and playful. I'm obsessed with this necklace - Ann Taylor, you can never go wrong.

For this kind of weekend, anything nautical is a requirement. I'll pair these with my white skinny jeans for a fun night out with my nude patent leather pump for an extra touch of sophistication.

We'll be in New Jersey, so leather shorts for a spicy night out is essential. Essential I tell you!

A bold, vibrant and heavy-patterned bathing suit is also something that every girl should be rocking this weekend! Mine is from Trina Turk, and it fits like a dream. Got to love the sexy one-pieces!

Overall, I think we did okay! Before we miss our ride...

What are you wearing this Memorial Day Weekend? Post it here!! Remember, have fun and be safe!

Casually Corporate

As the summertime approaches, it's as if our wardrobes become more casual and less "strict" so to speak.  I've had this battle for some time now where all I want to do is wear leggings and full out JORTS to work but on the real, cannot do that unless I want to get reprimanded. On the contrary, there's nothing more satisfying than getting ready for the day and realizing that what you're wearing is downright adorbs.  For some reason I've always had this fascination with colors like taupe, cognac, gold, and anything brown-esque related. Blame my mom, she started it. So here it is in a outfit in a way to dress casually corporate that even YOU, yes you, can do!

Let it be known that my hair color never stays the same and I do have tattoos that are shown in the corporate setting. While this may not be entirely professional in the grander scheme of things, just know it can all be changed with a swish of a slick chignon and a cardigan. BOOM, ultra-professional in a matter of moments.

Love the look? Let's break it down: Necklace & Booties: Banana Republic; Dress: Ann Taylor. Simple and easy as 1, 2, 3.

A monster shout-out to my girl, Jackie Friscia, for the photos. She's the chicest little puppy I know.

"Advanced Style"

There are only a few things I aspire to be when I'm old and gray-haired, which are to be: healthy and fabulouslychic (one word, count it). While attending this fabulous book launch of Ari Seth Cohen's Advanced Style presented by NOWNESS.com at the New Museum, I was able to sip champagne and mingle with the elderly stars who take the definition of style to a whole other level. You'll see what I mean soon, I'm sure. Here are some of the highlights of the event, read it and weep ladies and gents. These women will blow you away.

We want her to be our Grandma. Miss. Ilona Royce Smithkin and I.

Debra Rapoport
Loretta Goldstein, Rita Ellis Hammer and my girl, Sara!
Professor Richard Cramer's cute butt
Lady in reddddd and Tziporah Salamon

We shared a moment discussing leopard print

Lynn Dell Cohen

Sir Ari Seth Cohen, the man, and not the myth nor mystery!

A big shout-out to our other lady, Nina Ventura, Publicist of powerHouse books, for being the shit ;) Love you gurrrl. Everyone, please go out and enjoy this book!

She's Just Being Miley...

Last night was the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Sin City, giving all stars and celebrities alike the green light to go all out for their attire selections! Katy Perry showed up with her lovely little Grandma, donning a beautifully lilac, floor-length blumarine stunner, while Carrie Underwood dressed from head-to-toe in a light blue Cinderella-esque Oscar de la Renta ballgown. And then there was Miley Cyrus...

Miley Cyrus is one to never stay within her boundaries, ever. Remember those racy MySpace-like pictures she took on her cell phone and then were shared amongst the world? Don't worry, her best friend Leslie says, oh she's just being Miley. Awesome.

We think Miley looks like a provocative-puppy here. Literally a puppy. Her hair is so poofy! We say this in the nicest way possible, because granted she's got the body so why not flaunt it in Las Vegas, right? Plus, she's wearing her Christian Louboutins! We will deduct points due to her barely-there "drazer" (a dress/blazer combo). You can thank Jean Paul Gaultier for that one. This would probably look better on someone who wasn't 19, but rather someone above the age of 21, just saying...

What do YOU think?

Leather & Louboutin

Holy canoli, what a weekend for weather! New York City experienced some sun-drenched and sizzling temperatures that made being in the apartment just not humanly possible. Needless to say, we were excited to wear our new leather shorts for our evening outing on Saturday night. Let's not forget to add some more luxury to the mix with our "Decollette" Louboutin pumps that helped elongate the gams and produced some interesting cat calls from a few cheeky hipsters in the streets..."Hey, LEGS!". Ew. For those between ages of 20-45, we're gonna say NAY to that. But we appreciate the effort.

Happy birthday to our friend, Lex! Party outfit accomplished. Little mix of this, little mix of that, always keep everyone guessing! Let's start from the top, literally. Striped Top: Gap; Blazer: Vince; Leather Shorts: Topshop; Shoes: Christian Louboutin.

The TRSD fool-proof way to get ready for the work-day or event at night is to start with the basics and create a blank canvas. We love anything black so the black route we shall go. Adding pops of color for interest is a great way to spice up the look without piling on layers on layers on layers. Moving forward, we utilized our basic nautical navy and red striped top for a sporty-feel without going overboard. Get it? Ah, we're terrible.

Mama Knows Best

Look at that little lady with the cat-eye glasses! Chic alert at age 4!

It's true, we here at TRSD didn't learn how to have any sort of style without the help of our beloved Mama. She's the bomb! Granted, at the ripe age of 3 we thought style was wearing a grass hula skirt from Hawaii, going topless, and adorned with a pooka-shell necklace was indeed, fashion-forward. Some things never change.

In honor of Mother's Day on Sunday, we wanted to take the time today to share some great (last minute) gift ideas that you could possibly purchase for Mom! Cards are nice, but tangible objects are better. Take note gents, it works every time.

Anything "Tocca" related works. It's affordable, the packaging is girly and dreamy, and it smells like a winner. She'll love it! You can purchase these items at any beauty store like Blue Mercury or Sephora

Does your Mom like to read, we mean other than smutty magazines or the latest issue of InStyle or Vogue? How about leaning her towards the hottest selling trilogy right now, the 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon. EPIC. Don't ask what it is, just open the pages.

Whatever you find for your Mama, make sure it's something that will only bring her smiles for her day in the spotlight. Flowers will work too :)

Well done, Dad.

Pumped Up Kicks

Yahoo! Got my pumped up kicks yesterday. Couldn't be more excited! One of the trends this season is indeed, the wedged sneaker. Although we are somewhat behind on discussing these details, it's better late than never. Considering we love our high-heels, red soles and all, the wedged sneaker is a great alternative to add some height but also keeps your look chaschic! Love the look? You can rock these with just about anything from jeans and shorts to mixing it up and pairing with a cute maxi dress (just like Ms. Medine!)

Brands like Ash, See by Chloe, even Nine West make great (and affordable) options for the wedged sneaker trend. Check out these cutie booties that will for sure turn heads.

TRSD Fashion Police: MetGala Edition

Last night marked the Oscars night of fashion, the MetGala Ball in New York. Unfortunately, we were too busy to attend, you know how these things go ;) Glued to our couch with a glass of wine in hand and roommates to share with our fave and not-so-fave ensembles of the night, we were able to accumulate what we feel were the best of the best, and the worst of the WORST. We present to you TRSD Fashion Police. Cue the music.

Let's get the bad eggs out of the way, that way we can appreciate those who came to the Gala in hopes of making the "Best Dressed" list, and did! Let's do it.

OH NO, SHE DIDN'T

Anja Rubik

Bianca Brandolini D'Adda

Donna Karan

Elizabeth Banks

Florence Welch

Ivanka Trump

Kristen Dunst

Kristen Stewart

Lana Del Ray

Linda Fargo

Mary-Kate Olsen...who looks like a grandma.

That was exhausting. We're embarrassed to say, that yes, these ensembles actually occurred to good people! We will not dwell, but look forward to better and brighter times, like when the "Best Dressed" list came to be! Bring it on.

OH YES, SHE DID

Ashley Greene

Camilla Belle

Carey Mulligan

Diane Kruger

Dianna Agron

Ed Westwick

Gerard Butler

Gisele Bundchen

Kristen Bell

LaLa Anthony

A great success! Our overall favorite of the night was Camilla Belle. She graced the red carpet gracefully, looking radiant in Ralph Lauren! We loved every aspect of her look. Bravo!
